Adult Education Continues this Summer 2010: Sundays 9:15 – 10:15

Coffee is served at 9:00 and all, including college students, are welcome to participate.

Summer is a great time to continue to “grow in faith” at St. Mark’s. We are offering two series of adult formation. Beginning on Sunday, June 12th, you are invited to participate in “Living the Questions” – a combination video and discussion that features conversations with over 30 leading theologians and church leaders.

June 13 - Taking the Bible Seriously
June 20 - Lives of Jesus
June 27 - St. Paul
July 4 - Evil, Suffering and a God of Love
July 11 - Debunking the Rapture

On Sunday, July 18th, parishioners Chad Alcorn and Seth Allison and colleague David Hendricks begin a six part series called, “All-In-The-Family: Finding Faith and Connections During Hard Times.” This series has something for everyone:

July 18 - Teenage Wasteland: How Celebrity Narcissism and Information Technology is Tempting Adolescents - Chad Alcorn examines the new world of information technology and how teens are biologically and psychologically predisposed to desire what celebrity promises.

July 25 - Gimme Shelter: A Closer Look at Love and What Keeps Us Together -With a shift towards the marriage, Seth Allison introduces emotion focused marriage and how attachments manifest in this complicated relationship dance.

Aug 1 - Crazy Love: Exploring the Covenant Between Parents and Their Children - Seth examines the provisional parent-child relationship including attuning to the child’s needs while also providing structure.

Aug 8 - Don’t Forget to Breathe: Self Soothing and Self-Regulation for Children and Adolescents - David Hendricks offers practical strategies for children and teens to identify and regulate feelings with the goal of preventing dangerous self-medicating.

Aug 15 - Don’t Forget to Breathe II: Parenting from the Inside Out - David continues self regulation topic but with a shift towards mindfulness and parenting.

Aug 22 - All-In-The-Family Open Forum - The final “open forum” includes all presenters as we answer questions and dialogue about family related issues. (Dr. Chad Alcorn, Seth Allison, MA LCPC, David Hendricks, MA).

All Are Welcome!
