Adult Formation

Adult Formation is a gathering held on Sunday mornings for discussion, fellowship and learning. It is typically held on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10am in the library. It continues to evolve, and has taken the shape of lectures, presentations and TED-style video talks. Topics range from spiritual to secular and have been led by both church members and individuals from the larger community.

The purpose of the forum is to have a place for open and honest discussion and everyone is welcome and encouraged to share their perspective.

For more information or to get involved with Adult Formation, please contact Dan Lambert at danlambert84@gmail.com

Summer schedule 2018

All sessions are at 10:00 am in the Library.

What is a prophet called to do in today’s world? Do you wonder why we worship as we do and why others don’t now or didn’t in the past? Considering what happens when you die or how you should prepare for death? Summer adult formation has a range of offerings for you.

June 3, 10 – “Keeping our Prophetic Call: What is God Asking of You?” A two-part examination of how we are called to engage in prophetic dialog in our current, polarized world. (Ministry Associate Jaime Briceño)

June 17, 24; July 1, 8 – “The Story of Christian Worship: How the Past Informs How We Worship Now.” A four-part analysis of early, medieval, and modern practices of worships and how they can challenge or inform what we do now. (Priest Associate Bob Wyatt)

July 15: “Kindness Made Audible – The Threshold Choir as Pastoral Care.” A instruction to the Threshold Choir movement, small choirs that visit the bedside to comfort those at the threshold of life. (Deacon Daryce Hoff Nolan, St. Helena/S. Elena, Burr Ridge)

July 22, 29; August 5, 12 – “What Happens When You Die? A View Across Time and Culture.” Eternal death, eternal life, resurrection of the body, the heaven of your dreams, cultural denial of death, hellfire and damnation forever: What do you expect? What do you fear? (Priest Associate Bob Wyatt)
