Robert O. Wyatt

The Rev. Dr. Robert O. Wyatt is Priest Associate. He preaches and presides at St. Mark’s as needed Bob has been deeply involved with agencies of the Diocese of Chicago and other nonprofits, serving on the board of Bishop and Trustees, which manages church properties,  Bishop Anderson House, our chaplaincy ministry at the Illinois Medical District, and Episcopal Charities, coordinating agency for Diocesan nonprofit ministries. He is now on the board of Cicero Family Service and Mental Health Center. He was previously associate priest at Grace Hinsdale, rector at St. Helena Burr Ridge, and curate at Transfiguration Palos Park. Bob holds a bachelor’s in English from Sewanee: The University of the South, master’s degrees from Northwestern University (English), the University of Tennessee (Communication), and Vanderbilt Divinity School (pastoral studies), and a Ph.D. from Northwestern  (Renaissance literature). Prior to ordination in 2004, he was director of communication research and professor at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro. He was also survey research adviser to the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University for five years and book editor for the Nashville Tennessean for 15 years. Bob is author of Free Expression and the American Public (ASNE, 1991) and co-author of Free Expression in Five Democratic Publics (Hampton, 2004).
